How to create a database

In this article we will be creating a database using cPanel. This article assumes you have a "basic", "advanced", "professional" or "unlimited" web server and you are aware of your cPanel login information.

Step 1. Identify and navigate to your web hosting service:
Once your web server is ready to manage, navigate to "home". There you will find the "Services" drop down box, select "My Services". Click on your desired web hosting service, this will take you to web server's client area.

Step 2. Navigate to "Quick Shortcuts" and access "MySQL Databases":
Inside your web server's "Product Details" tab your server's information will be displayed along with a "MySQL Databases" box. Click the "MySQL Databases" box, this will redirect you to cPanel (You should find yourself already logged in, if not login to cPanel and find the "MySQL Databases" section).

Step 3. Create your database:
After being redirected to cPanel, there is an input box where you can input a database name. Fill in your desired database name (Reminder, all databases will have a prefix; accountname_) and proceed to click "Create Database". Upon database creation, you will recieve an alert such as "Added the database “accountname_databaseName".

Database created, continue reading to edit your database.

Step 4. Navigate and access phpMyAdmin:
Return to cPanel homepage by clicking "Polar Servers" on the top left. Locate the "Databases" category, it contains the "phpMyAdmin" box, click on "phpMyAdmin"; you will be redirected to phpMyAdmin where you can manage your database.

Step 5. Manage your database:
Return to cPanel homepage by clicking "Polar Servers" on the top left. Locate the "Databases" category, it contains the "phpMyAdmin" box, click on "phpMyAdmin"; you will be redirected to phpMyAdmin where you can manage your database. On the left, you should be able to see the database you made earlier. Here you can edit your database, for example you can select the database you made and create tables.
